When hubby and I drove down to Ocean City I purchased an audio book to help pass the time. Hubby is real particular about his books, movies, etc. He doesn’t like fantasy. He much prefers reality based programming or at least stories that would make sense in the real world. Keeping that in mind, I purchased a book called “Thr3e” by Ted Dekker.

The book centers on a young seminary student by the name of Kevin Parsons. Kevin Parsons, has managed to survive a childhood chock full of psychological and physical abuse only to become the target of some madman who quotes riddles and demands Kevin publically confess to his sin. The madman is fond of the number 3 and uses it within his clues and as a timeframe for responding to his demands. Whenever the demand is not met something is blown up. The targets always involve someone or something directly linked to Kevin’s life. Kevin enlists the aid of his childhood friend Samantha to help solve the riddles and try to figure out what sin he is to confess. Also FBI agent, Jennifer Peters, takes a special interest in the case.

I found the book slow initially but two thirds in its pace picked up. Thursday while driving around running errands I finished the book. The ending was a bit of a surprise. I really didn’t see it coming. I’m going to attribute that to the author’s writing rather than me being potentially slow on the uptake. LOL

Last night I learned that there was a movie made last year starring Marc Blucas of “Buffy the Vampire” fame. As a Netflix subscriber I was able to go online and watch this movie. It was a laugh and a half and a complete waste of my hour and 45 minutes. I could have been doing something more important like watching paint dry. The trailer below leads you to believe that this movie will at least keep you awake while viewing. Like a good politician … it lies.



The book, as usual, was much better.
